Terravista is a full service landscaping company specializing in unique design and installation. From the initial stages of each design, we consider the unique needs of our clients in order to provide a landscape that reflects the architecture of the home and style of the homeowner.
Terravista was started in 1999 by Eric Baldus. He holds a degree in Horticulture from the University of Minnesota and his studies included an internship with a premier landscaping company in the Netherlands. This experience and subsequent travels have given Eric an appreciation for many garden traditions thought Europe and Asia. He is knowledgeable in a variety of garden styles including Persian, Japanese, English, and French, as well as contemporary design. He has received three awards from the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association for his designs, including their highest honor.
From our friendly and respectful staff, to our commitment to sustainability, Terravista strives to create a landscaping experience that exceeds expectations. We are considerate of each client’s individual home environment and use natural materials whenever possible to achieve a sense of connection and comfort.
Extensive knowledge of global horticultural styles and philosophies contribute to a vast palette of inspiration, with an emphasis on modern and contemporary design. We employ sustainable design techniques, including tighter plantings and the use of dwarf species to reduce weeding and maintenance. Our talent has been recognized by leaders in the field of residential and commercial landscape design. We are featured on the website of Monrovia, a premier national nursery of ornamental plants. Our work has been featured in the Star Tribune newspaper, and can be seen on HGTV and PBS Hometime programs, as well as in the Walker Sculpture Garden.
We have a highly qualified staff working on Eric’s designs. Two staff members hold degrees from the U of M Horticulture program and three are MNLA Certified Nursery and Landscape Professionals. All of our foremen are ICPI certified. We even have a soil scientist on staff! We have a highly skilled and experienced crew of workers who are proud of what they do.
We are more than just a business venture and take time to give back to our community. Terravista has donated design time and manpower for beautification projects such as the Gateway into Minneapolis (from Columbia Heights) and the Johnson Street Merchants. We have donated time and trucks to the Northeast Chamber of Commerce. We have also served as the guest contractor for the landscape construction class at the U of M. Additionally, you may see members of Terravista serving as volunteers at the MNLA booth in the Minnesota State Fair or at the Minnesota Tree Climbing Championship.
